For our Brooklyn-based couple, Monica and Kenneth, it only made sense to pick the beautiful Celestine, Brooklyn, as the location for their intimate wedding ceremony in New York City. When Monica and Kenneth first reached out to me, they let me know that they were immediately drawn to my journalistic and candid approach to photography. They were also drawn to the fact that I am a 35mm film photographer. The nostalgia of film on a wedding day is seriously unmatched and adding this service to their package was a must for them!
We started our day off getting ready at the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge in New York City. This cool and modern, luxury hotel is located in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn. The hotel has a neutral color pallette, filled with tons of greenery, plenty of natural light and amazing views of the New York City Skyline. The hotel was close to the ceremony venue, which made it easy for us to be able to walk to the venue while hitting some of Brooklyn's most icon spots for our couples wedding portraits on digital and 35mm film.
Before walking over to the Celestine our couple had their first look along with their private vows at 1 Hotel. After that intimate moment, we walked over closer to the Brooklyn Bridge to start the couples wedding portraits. Monica and Kenneth were such naturals in front of the camera, you can feel the happiness and love they share radiate through their smiles. With the New York City skyline behind our couple in almost every photo, we then made our way over to the iconic Jane's Carousel. We were able to get some really cool motion blur shots with the gorgeous antique carousel moving behind them. We wrapped up the portraits session with a few more photos along the East River and finished up just in time to to tuck away before the ceremony began.
Monica and Kenneth walked around DUMBO right past Celestine on their very first date, so getting married there was a full circle moment and the perfect way to begin a new chapter.
As a digital and film photographer, their wedding ceremony venue was so much fun to shoot. Also located in Brooklyn's Dumbo neighborhood the Celestine is an intimate restaurant that doubles as an event venue. The Celestine is tucked closely beneath the Manhattan Bridge sitting right on the edge of the East River. This venue has amazing views of the New York City skyline, floor to ceiling windows and beautiful design details throughout the space. It truly is a stunning backdrop for any event! The ceremony ended with a lovely intimate brunch for our couples closest friends and family. We were so happy to be apart of Monica and Kenneth's wedding day.
