A Colorful Summer Garden Wedding at The Goodstone Inn, a Virginia Wedding Venue

Danielle and Nathan's colorful summer garden wedding at the Goodstone Inn, a Virginia wedding venue in the DMV area, was a true fairytale come to life. The Goodstone Inn is a stunning 265-acre venue that dates back to the mid-1700's and truly is one-of-a-kind. Located just an hour outside of Washington D.C., and nestled in the sweet town of Middleburg, Virginia, the Goodstone Inn is the perfect venue to get away from the busy city. It does a fantastic job of incorporating that old-world charm with today's modern luxuries. Shortly after being purchased in 1996, the Goodstone Inn, which was once intended to be a “country getaway”, became the restaurant and event space that it is today.

Regardless of what your vision for your wedding day is, the Goodstone Inn offers a variety of venue options for your big day. From an intimate wedding of 14 guests to a large gathering of 300 guests, the Goodstone Inn offers 15 different wedding venue options on its grounds. From the versatility that the Goodstone Inn hosts between their estate-style home, to the beautiful gardens with a stunning ivy wall, to the rolling hills beyond the hayfield, really sets the stage for beautiful images to be taken no matter where you are on the property.

The property also offers couples the opportunity to buy out the venue! The Goodstone Inn has six cottages on that can accommodate the couple as well as some friends and family to host a full wedding weekend celebration.

I was so thrilled when Danielle and Nathan asked me to be a part of their wedding day! Not only were they excited to have their wedding memories digitally but they were very interested in 35mm film photos as well. I absolutely love it when couples add film to their wedding day and we get to have a gallery with a great mix. We ended up shooting four rolls of 35mm film on their wedding day.

We started our day off inside the Manor house. The getting-ready space for both the bride and groom was spacious and decorated so nicely. Both Danielle and Nathan shared special moments in the morning with their wedding party as they read handwritten letters they had written for each of them. Danielle then got dressed in her stunning form-fitting strapless corset-style wedding gown with delicate sheer sleeves. She shared a few first looks with her family members before tucking away for her big reveal with Nathan. Danielle and Nathan shared an emotional first look prior to jumping into more formal photos.

I cannot get over how versatile the Goodstone Inn was. We were able to get such a great mix of portraits all within a few minute's walking distance. We took elegant photos inside the manor’s wood-paneled reading room. We then headed to the ceremony space in the garden and were quickly surrounded by greenery. We stopped for a few photos in front of the gorgeous Ivy wall and continued out into the open fields for bridal party photos.

After getting the bride and groom tucked away, we ventured back out to the ceremony space in the garden. There truly is so little to decorate just because of how much natural greenery surrounds the Goodstone Inn. Danielle did decide on colorful florals with hues of pink and orange,  which were the perfect pop of color in front of the Ivy wall!

Once the ceremony and cocktail hour both ended we walked over to the hayfield which hosted their beautiful tented reception. We loved their seating chart which was made up of floral stems in bud vases! It's such a fun way to have your seating chart be interactive but also bring flowers to the table as part of the tablescape. Their tablescape also included minimal bouquets with those same colorful florals along with sage and olive green accents.

We stole the couple for a quick sunset session out in the open hayfield next to the reception, again the variety of photos we got on this day was just so good! First dances were had, speeches were given and many toasts were made. Before getting the party started and dancing the night away Danielle and Nathan both stepped away to change into their fun reception party outfits! Daniell wore the cutest 1920-inspired flapper dress and Nathan came out in a fun dark green velvet blazer. We have to give a huge shout-out to the planning team Marriage and Mimosas on their coordination for this event! They were an amazing planning team to work with and they offer full planning services that you can view on their website here. We truly had the most amazing time celebrating Danielle and Nathan at the Goodstone Inn and cannot wait to be back at this stunning venue!
